Welcome
to Genomic Explorer (aka Stephanie). In 2014, I took the 23andme test to see if I had
the MTHFR mutations (rs1801131 and rs1801133) and have been exploring my genome ever since. No
significant MTHFR mutation was discovered in my genome (as of yet!) but the
search for other mutations ensued.
The purpose of this blog is to
provide information about interesting SNPs (single nucleotide
polymorphisms) in 23andme raw data*, chronicle my journey with gout, make some interesting observations and hypotheses, help gout sufferers, and provide some useful information about genetics.
The genome is the final frontier. Scientists are discovering more and more about the genome every day and the findings are more and fascinating. The complexity of the genome is astounding!
*Note that just because I mention a mutation it
does not mean I have the mutation myself.
